Class Evaluation

Class Evaluation

  1. Some things I enjoyed about this class is that we get to work with computers. We also learn about them and improve on our typing.
  2. Some things I dont like is that we never move seats all year. We type a lot although good, its very boring to do it for an hour and a half.
  3. I would recommend moving seats more often or at least 2 or 3 times. I would also take a break from typing so people wouldn't get bored as easy.
  4. My highlight from this class is yet to be. So far I haven't had a highlight but there is still 6 months of school left.
  5. I did do my best in this class. Partly because it was easy and I wanted to have an A.
  6. No, I am not reading my journal everyday nor writing in it. I only do it when I meet in this class or when I have time to do it.
  7. I am not committed to being a CTR person because no one is perfect. Choosing the right 100% of the time is not possible and it would also drive me crazy.

Patrick Kearon's Scorpion Story

When Patrick Kearon was small his parents told him to wear shoes at all times. He disregarded that one day and went walking along the desert. He got stung by a scorpion on his walk. Patrick learned an important lesson to listen to his parents. Putting those shoes on wasn't just for show but for his safety too. This relates to me because mt mom says to put on sandals when stepping outside even for a little bit. Not too long ago I threw out the trash without sandals and got sick

"Always do right"

                                                                                                            -Mark Twain
What this quote means to me is to always choose the right. Not 50% of the time or 80% he says to do it 100% of the time. Choosing the right is an everyday thing. Whether its in school or at work. You always have to do and choose the right.

World War II

World War II
  1. September 1, 1939 – September 2, 1945
  2. World War 2 was fought between two groups of countries. On one side were the Axis Powers, including Germany, Italy and Japan. On the other side were the Allies. They included Britain, France, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, India, the Soviet Union, China and the United States of America.
Where it happened:
As the name suggested, events of World War II took place across the globe. Most of the combat action took place in Europe, East Asia, and islands in the Pacific Ocean, but others were seen in places as far away as Madagascar and the Aleutian Islands. Countries such as Poland, China, Russia, and Germany saw their territories directly involved in war and suffered terribly.
Important Events:
  • Sep 3rd, 1939. Invasion of Poland Marks Beginning of WWII.
  • Jul 1st, 1940. Battle of Britain.

Student Success Statement #28

  1. Can people trust me to do the what's right?
  2. Am I committed to doing my very best?
  3. Do I treat people the way I want to be treated?

"If the answers to these questions are YES, there is no way you can fail"

                                                                                   -Lou Holtz
What I think this quote means is that if you answered  yes to all these question then failing is something you wont do. These questions determine whether you'll be successful or a failure. The first question can help you if you are running to be president. If people trust you to do the right the more votes you get. If you are committed to doing your best you wont fail. Doing you're best is what allows you to never fail. If you treat people how you like to be treated no one will ever hold a grudge against you and you will overcome any obstacle

Challenges Teens Face Today

Challenges Teens Face Today
  • Self-Esteem and Body Image
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Drugs and Alcohol
  • Cyber Bullying
  • Peer Pressure

  1. One major challenge I have today is getting good grades in school. Straight A’s or B’s aren’t easy

I could do what I need to in class and start doing homework and all classwork.

Being a CTR student helps me by…

I can help other teens by talking with them and maybe helping them.

Reflection: The greatest need that teens have is support. Support helps people get through the problems that they have.

Student Success Statement #27

"Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the bases of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. The relationship between the soundness of the body and the activities of the mind is subtle and complex. Much is not yet understood. But we do know what the Greeks knew: that intelligence and skill can only function at the pea of their capacity when the body is healthy and strong"

                                                                                                          -John F. Kennedy
What this quote means to me is that to have creativity and intelligence you have to have a healthy mind and body. A strong and healthy body need physical activity, which is what JFK is saying here. He says physical fitness is needed for dynamic and creative intellectual activity. JFK says that physical activity is what you need not just to have a healthy body but to be at the peak of you're intellectual activity

"Kindness is the essence of greatness."

                                                                                                     -Joseph B. Wirthlin
What this quote means to me is that kindness is what makes a person great. Without kindness, greatness is not achievable. If you have kindness you will have greatness. Doing and saying kind things is part of greatness. Helping people when they are hurt by saying kind things is great. Opening a door for a handicapped is doing kind things. To be great you first need to be kind. There isn't one without the other. When you have achieved kindness, that's when you have greatness.

Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving Week

My week off I got to celebrated thanksgiving with my family. I gave thanks to what I had and the food I ate. I took care of my brother a bit my week off. I watched a movie while I was there named "The Mechanic." I played guitar so I wouldn't be rusty coming back. I mostly slept and played games this break. I got to eat a dinner with my family on thanksgiving day. I thanked that I have a family. That's all I did this week.

“If it is not right do not do it; if it is not true, do not say it.“

                                                                                       -Marcus Aurelius
What this quote means to me is that if you are going to do something stupid think about it before you do it. If it is not right then don't do it. If you know about a false rumor that is not true then don't say it or don't tell others. Then if you do what is wrong something bad will happen to you. If you know something about someone that is fake don't say it. Someone will say something bad about you that isn't true. It’s like karma if you say or do something bad, something bad will happen to you.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

In November 1621, after the Pilgrims’ first corn harvest proved successful, Governor William Bradford organized a celebratory feast and invited a group of the fledgling colony’s Native American allies, including the Wampanoag chief Massasoit. Now remembered as American’s “first Thanksgiving”—although the Pilgrims themselves may not have used the term at the time—the festival lasted for three days. While no record exists of the historic banquet’s exact menu, the Pilgrim chronicler Edward Winslow wrote in his journal that Governor Bradford sent four men on a “fowling” mission in preparation for the event, and that the Wampanoag guests arrived bearing five deer. Historians have suggested that many of the dishes were likely prepared using traditional Native American spices and cooking methods. Because the Pilgrims had no oven and the Mayflower’s sugar supply had dwindled by the fall of 1621, the meal did not feature pies, cakes or other desserts, which have become a hallmark of contemporary celebrations.

Student Success Statement #24

“Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."

                                                                                                                -Chick Moorman

What this quote means to me is that doing the good thing and important thing make you a ctr person. A good person will never do the dishonorable. Will never do the unfair and wont choose the wrong. Doing the right is more important of the outcome of a game or a test. It is better to fail a test without cheating than pass by cheating. Same goes with a game of basketball or any situation that has winners and losers.

"Honesty is the best policy"

                                                                                                                  -Mark Twain
What this quote means to me is that no policy is like honesty. Honesty will always be the best policy. Honesty prevent you from doing the wrong. If you are honest 100% of the time, you are choosing the right 100% of the time. Being honest takes guts and not all people can do it. Honesty is never lying, never committing treason and no cheating. Honesty is telling you're mom you'll get home at 7:00 and actually get there at 7:00. Dishonesty is lying and getting there at 9:00. Honesty is not only a good policy but the best.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day
What is Veterans Day:
Veterans day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I (November 11) to honor US veterans and victims of all wars.
When is Veterans Day: November 11
Purpose:
This day is the anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918. Veterans are thanked for their services to the United States on Veterans Day.
Why it’s important:
While both honor our military personnel, the former is a day to remember and pay respect to all the men and women that died serving our country in a war, while Veterans Day is to celebrate the soldiers who are still alive and served in the forces at anytime, during peace or war.
How to show honor:
  • Visit a wounded veteran at the hospital.
  • Offer your home repair skills to a veteran or military family.
  • Volunteer your financial, legal, or career expertise.
  • Deliver a meal or care packages to veterans.
  • Help a veteran tell their story through a project such as the Veteran's History Project.

Reflection: I think that it is very necessary to honor veterans day. If you fought in the war you would appreciate it too. Saying thank you and honoring the veterans is the least we could do.Veterans have risked their lives to protect our freedom and we owe them.
