Student Success Statement #19

Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong even if everyone is for it"

                                                                                                              -William Penn
What this quote means to me is that doing the right will never be wrong. No matter who's against it is right to do the right. This also means that wrong will always be wrong. No matter who's for it doing the wrong will be wrong. Say you go to a party and everyone is smoking. Just because everyone is doing it doesn't make it right. Wrong will be wrong and right will be right. Wearing uniform to school that requires it is right. Even if the entire school is against it. Wearing your uniform is the right thing to do.

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often"

                                                                                                              -Peter Vidmar
What this quote means to me is that if you want to graduate but you want to watch t.v now, dont make that mistake. Write down what you really want and dont make a mistake of slicking off for something you want at the moment. If you want to lose 20 pounds but you want a burger now, dont do it. Don't sacrifice losing 20 pounds for a burger you want now. You'll see yourself losing weight often but if you eat that burger you wont. Instead sacrifice that burger so you would get your goal later.

School Homecoming

School Homecoming
What is homecoming?
Homecoming is the tradition of welcoming back former students and celebrating a school's existence. It is a tradition in many high schools and colleges in the United States, Canada and the Philippines.
History of homecoming:
Homecoming is an annual tradition in the United States. People, towns, high schools, and colleges come together, usually in late September or early October, to welcome back alumni and former residents.
Why we celebrate:
Homecoming is/was traditionally centered around a particular football game when all of the alumna who graduated from the school are invited to come back, see the game, and have a sort of re-union at their old school. The tradition is stronger in colleges. In high schools, it mostly revolves around the dance.
Events:
A pep rally usually occurs on the day of the big homecoming game. A dance follows the homecoming game, and a homecoming queen and sometimes king are crowned either during this time or at halftime of the game. All of these encourage students and alumni to have school spirit and pride.
Why it’s called homecoming:
What it means is that the alumni or students who went to school here before get to come home, so to speak, to be remembered.
Homecoming etiquette:
Most homecoming dances are semi-formal, although each school will specify its own dress code. For a semi-formal event, girls should wear cocktail dresses (usually cut at the knee) and boys should wear a suit with a tie. Tuxedos and long dresses should be avoided, unless the school specifically says the dance is formal.

My opinion:
I think homecoming is a good thing because it invites alumni back to the school with a football game. I think most people are interested in the dance in my school but its fun either way.

"A good name is better than anything you can achieve in this life"

                                                                                                                     -Coach K
What this quote means to me is that if you have everything in this life but have a bad name for yourself, people wont trust you. Whether you're applying to a school or a job, if you have a bad name they will not accept you. If you've made a good name for yourself they will trust you and accept you. Having a bad name affects how your life goes on. Your name will follow you everywhere you go. Having a good name comes in handy in a lot of cases. It applies to a lot of situations that you may have found yourself in.

Global Opportunities: Careers in other countries

Global Opportunities: Careers in other countries
Psychologist in Japan:
Many of the best jobs for Americans abroad are offered through the federal government. For example, the U.S. Air Force is currently looking to hire a psychologist at their base in Japan. The job pays between $52,000 and $106,000 depending on experience.
Travel Writer:
According to Hubbs, the editor of TransitionsAbroad, one of the common jobs that people pursue abroad is to work for a travel publication or start up their own, perhaps while working another position simultaneously. These positions are typically freelance and the pay varies from publication to publication.
Au Pair:
An au pair is a nanny who gets the benefit of living and working with a family abroad. The job may not be ideal for those looking to boost their career skills, but if you want to make some extra money and have the opportunity to explore countries abroad, then this could be your dream ticket.
Teaching Jobs in Korea:
Several organizations offer teaching jobs including Council on International Educational Exchange and the U.S. State Department. We found a posting to teach English in Korea, which pays between $1,600 and $2,700 a month. You must have a four-year college degree and speak English.
Reflection:
I would like to work outside of the U.S because working abroad is an opportunity for a great career. Many jobs are good outside of the U.S and I want a chance to explore them.

"Choosing a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches"

What this quote means to me is that if you are rich but have a bad name for yourself, people wont trust you. Say you're applying to a school, if you have a bad name they will not accept you. If you've made a good name for yourself they will trust you and accept you. Having a bad name affects how your life goes on. Whether you're applying for a job or a school. Student Success Statement #15

"If your so-called friends urge you to do anything to be wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow."

                                                                                                             -Thomas S. Monson
What this quote means to me is that right will be right no matter what. No matter how big your group is, if something is wrong, its wrong. Make a stand for what is right. Make a stand for others who don't have the courage to do so. Stand for what is right and dont choose the wrong just because everyone is doing it. Wrong will be wrong no matter how many people say otherwise. If you believe what others are doing isn't right then you do what you think is right. Do it for you and others that cant. Be the one to make a stand so that others who dont have the courage may follow. Be the light that others seek for and choose the right.

" A CTR champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself."

                                                                                                             -Neomi Trigueros
What this quote mans to me is that CTR champion are very important. Above all other types of champions. Being a CTR champion needs a good person not just a good sports player. Other champions do matter but not as much as being a CTR champion. For example you could be an Olympics champion but not a CTR champion because you cheated your way to the top. Only way to truly become a champion is to do the right thing 100% of the time. A CTR champion is someone who is great and never chooses the wrong. A CTR champion is a privilege and it takes choosing the right 100% of the time to be one.

"Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get."

                                                                                                 -Mark Victor Hansen
What this quote means to me is that to achieve a goal, you need to set a goal. If you dont set goals there is no way to get them. They are non-existent. If you set goals you get goals. Goals give a purpose in doing things. Without them what are you trying to achieve? By setting goals you're giving doing things a purpose. Certain goals will get you certain results. Benefits will come with certain goals and will help later on.

"When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block."

                                                                                                                  -James E. Faust
What this quote means is that obedience will never be a stumbling block. It will never go against you. Obedience is always the right thing to do and will always be a building block. Obedience is something that never gets in your way. It will always be in your favor. For example, if you do the right thing and obey, it wont hurt you. It wont be detrimental to you because it is the right thing to do. No matter the situation obedience will never be in the wrong. Its impossible. Doing the right thing will never be wrong and obedience is the right and by doing it you are a CTR person. Never choosing the wrong and being %100 CTR is a great accomplishment.

"We learn to do by doing"

                                                                                                     -Spencer W. Kimball
What this quote means is that learning things takes practice. The only way you'll learn to do anything is by doing. If you wanted to become a guitarist you'll practice the guitar. Now, this means a lot because there is no shortcuts to learning. You can't snap your fingers and already expect  to know how to use the guitar. To learn you have to do and practice until you get it. This quote is very meaningful because it teaches people that to learn you have to do. Only when you do is when you will you learn.

I would not lie to become a an EMT because the pay is very little and I don’t wanna be a witness of someone dying. I believe I will be left traumatized and have stress to see that. People’s lives depend on whether you’re fast enough or not
