Student Success Statement #50

"Many think that the short term gain will be worth the long term pain, but it isn't. In addition, using steroids is cheating, and there is nothing worse in sports than a cheater."

-George Mitchell
What this quote means to me is that the pain that cheating involves is not worth it. Many people think it is but it isn't. Cheaters live with regret their whole life. Cheating gives you a short term feeling of excitement but the pain that follows is long term. In sports there is nothing like cheating. Cheating in sports, like using steroids, is one of the worst if not the worst thing to do in sports. But not only this apply to sports but everyday life. Cheating can be bad in school, work, marriage, and much more. Cheating is an overall bad thing to do and it will only cause you pain.

"I won't cheat"

                       -Dale Murphy
What this quote means to me is that Dale Murphy wont cheat. But not only him, neither will I. Cheating to the top will not get you anywhere emotionally or mentally. Knowing that you cheated and didn't accomplish anything legit, will get to you. Dale Murphy never cheated and he was one of the best baseball players of all time. This goes to show that without cheating you can accomplish just as much as if you do cheat. Sometimes you can accomplish more than you did with cheating.

Student Success Statement #48

"Character matters most."

-Dale Murphy
What this quote means to me is that all the other stuff in life like riches and success dont matter. They dont matter as much as character. There are many things in this world that matter. But none of those things compare to how much character matters. Character leads to the other more important things in life too. Things such as honesty and always doing what is right. Without character those things will seem hard to you if you have a bad character. Dale Murphy led with this his whole life and he was very successful in the end

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day

Who Was St. Patrick?

St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. But for all his prevalence in culture, namely the holiday held on the day of his death, his life remains a mystery. Many of the stories traditionally associated with St. Patrick, including the famous account of his banishing all the snakes from Ireland, are false, the product of hundreds of years of exaggerated storytelling.

What is the purpose of St. Patrick’s Day?
The Origins of St. Patrick's Day. St. Patrick's Day celebrates the Roman Catholic feast day of the patron saint of Ireland.St. Patrick died on March 17, 461.
Why is St. Patrick’s Day designated when it is?
St. Patrick’s day is on March 17 because that is the day when the patron saint of Ireland St. Patrick passed away. The traditions and stories didn’t start until later but the day of his death is why it’s celebrated March 17.
Why a certain color on St. Patrick’s Day?
Pinching people on St Patrick's day is thought to revolve around the leprechaun and the legend that wearing green makes one invisible to the mischievous fairies. As the dubious legend dictates, leprechauns would pinch anyone not wearing green – so people pinch those not wearing green to remind them.

"Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all."

 -Benjamin Franklin
What this quote means to me is that great beauty will get you no where in life. You can go through life with nothing but good looks. Same goes with strength. Great riches will only get you so far before you find nothing else to do. A great heart gives you all of that and keeps you happy.

"It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or do wrong today"

                                                                                          -James Freeman Clarke
What this quote means to me is that what we do today can affect the rest of our lives. In other words, all eternity. If we choose the right today we might go down a good path. If we choose the wrong, that might affect our entire lives from then on. James Holmes was an all A student and high honors but one day he chose the wrong. That decision affected his entire life and now is in jail for the rest of his life

Reflection:
I would like to become an ophthalmologist because it seems like an easy job with high pay. The education is a lot for me but it’s a good sacrifice.
